Woman Injured in Domestic Violence Incident in Island Park

|

A woman suffered significant injuries in a domestic violence incident in Island Park Reservoir in eastern Idaho. The incident occurred on the night of Friday, August 13.

According to the details shared by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, reports of a domestic violence incident in Island Park Reservoir were received on Friday night. Once deputies arrived on the camping grounds near the Reservoir, a witness indicated the direction in which the suspect had gone on his ATV.

Deputies drove along the trail and reached the suspect’s ATV which was stationed close to the shoreline. After taking the suspect into custody, who was visibly intoxicated and unable to speak clearly, the deputies conducted some on-premises investigations. The suspect was identified as Brandon Paul Morris, 40, of Montana.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Morris and the injured woman had been traveling in an ATV along the Buttermilk Loop Road when they ran into an argument. Morris bashed the woman’s head into the windshield and the side window, causing notable injuries.

The woman then attempted to run out of the ATV but Morris pulled her back. Witnesses intervened and helped the woman run away from the ATV. The witnesses then stood between the two parties until deputies arrived on the scene.

Once the first responders and emergency medical services arrived on the scene, the injured woman received some basic treatment. She was then airlifted to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

Morris was taken into custody and taken to the Fremont County Jail. He refused a breath test and has since been charged with felony DUI, felony domestic battery, and misdemeanor false imprisonment. His arraignment in front of a judge took place on Monday, August 16.

In Boise incidents like these, it is important for a domestic violence suspect to put up a good legal defense. A qualified Boise domestic battery attorney can help build this defense and plead for lower penalties for the suspect.
