A man was charged with aggravated assault in Pocatello, Idaho for trying to run over his brother with his car. He was arrested on the evening of Saturday, November 28.
According to the details shared by the authorities, the man was identified as Chase Edward Scott, 33, of Utah. Scott and his brother first had an argument earlier on Saturday. The two brothers had met at the Motel 6 in Chubbuck. Scott had previously lived in Pocatello but had since moved to Utah. After the two had an argument, his brother left the hotel and went away.
Later the same day, Scott drove to his parents’ house. The house is located in Pocatello close to the Ammon Park. This was where Scott’s brother also lived. When Scott visited the house later on Saturday, he was visibly drunk and ‘highly volatile’ in the words of his brother.
Once again, an argument broke out between the two brothers. It led to a physical altercation between the two in which both exchanged punches with each other.
Scott suffered a punch to his nose which started bleeding. His brother then attempted to wrest car keys from him but Scott was able to keep them and got into his car. It was then that he drove into the yard and tried to hit his brother with the car. Police investigations later found the tire marks substantiating the story.
After Scott’s brother reported the incident to the authorities, the police were able to locate Scott near Idaho State University. He was still drunk but was sitting in the passenger seat, so the authorities didn’t charge him with driving under the influence. He was too inebriated at the time to provide a statement. He was subsequently booked into the Bannock County Jail in Pocatello and charged with aggravated assault, with his bond set at $10,000.
