A DUI crash in Pocatello resulted in injuries to three individuals early on the morning of Saturday, December 12. The incident was reported to the authorities around 12:30 a.m.
According to the details shared by the Pocatello police, the accident involved a collision between two vehicles. One of these was identified as an SUV while the other was a car. The crash took place on the intersection of Flandro Drive and Hiline Road.
It isn’t clear exactly how the incident occurred. However, Pocatello police revealed that the sheer impact of the collision caused the SUV to overturn. It came to rest upside down following the collision. Both the SUV and the car involved in the incident sustained heavy damage and were totaled.
Three individuals sustained injuries in the crash. One of the victims became trapped in the overturned SUV. A number of local and state agencies responded to the crash. These included the Pocatello Fire Department, Pocatello police, Chubbuck police, and the Idaho State Police.
Firefighters from the Pocatello Fire Department were among the first responders. Once they reached the scene of the crash, they extricated the victim trapped inside the SUV. The three individuals who were injured in the accident were transported to the Portneuf Medical Center via two ambulances of the Fire Department.
Police confirmed that three individuals injured in the accident are adults. The injuries of all three are reported as non-life threatening.
Preliminary investigations show that at least one of the involved drivers was driving under the influence at the time the accident took place. The said driver will be charged with DUI, the police confirmed.
Following the DUI crash in Pocatello, the Flandro-Hiline intersection was shut down to traffic as authorities conducted on-site investigations and cleanup. The accident remains under investigation with the Pocatello police leading the inquiry.
